THOMAS BREITLING / HERITAGE INTO MOTION

An integrated branding, photography and film campaign. Connecting craftsmanship with brand character and contemporary style

the assignment

Create a campaign for Thomas Breitling that brings the character of classic menswear into contemporary culture. Photography and film were developed together under one creative treatment, with our studio shaping the direction, styling and locations alongside the moving-image narrative. The aim was to connect the brand’s sense of heritage with different generations and ways of dressing, creating a coherent visual presence across social feeds and short-form video. Each image needed to stand on its own while contributing to a wider story about the clothes and the people wearing them.

challenges

The central challenge was balancing the atmosphere of a fashion campaign with the immediacy of social media. The work needed to catch attention quickly while leaving room for character, texture and a sense of craft. It also had to move between distinct personalities and environments without losing its identity. The shirt provided that connection, but set a demanding visual standard: its checks, collar, buttons and embroidery had to remain convincing as bodies moved and lighting changed. Across photography and AI-assisted film production, keeping the product recognisable was essential to making the broader creative world believable.

HIGHLIGHTS from the campaign

KEEPING THE SHIRT AT THE CENTRE OF THE STORY

We built the narrative around the garment, beginning in an imagined tailoring workshop where cutting, stitching and dressing a mannequin evoke the care behind a piece of clothing. From there, the film moves to an older character beside a horse, a confident figure with a classic car, and a younger wearer on the streets of Tokyo. Each brings a different attitude to the shirt. Close-ups of hands, buttons and fabric create a thread between these worlds, keeping the clothes at the center as the people and places around them change.

ONE CREATIVE DIRECTION ACROSS PHOTOGRAPHY AND FILM

Photography and motion formed two parts of the same creative process. The treatment brought styling, locations, character and atmosphere into a shared visual language, guiding both the shoot and the film’s development. Decisions about how the clothes were worn, how each person occupied the frame and how the environments felt gave the campaign a consistent foundation.

To realise that direction, we combined photography with AI-generated and AI-enhanced imagery, animation, compositing and traditional post-production. We selected the right approach for each shot, prioritising the final visual result. This allowed the workshop, character scenes and product details to sit within one campaign world while giving each sequence its own texture and pace.

The edit connects them through the familiar ritual of getting dressed. Fastening a button, adjusting a collar or rolling a sleeve gives each character a natural relationship with the garment. These small actions carry the story forward and keep the film grounded in the experience of wearing the clothes.

CONNECTING CRAFT WITH CONTEMPORARY ATTITUDE

Warm workshop light gives way to weathered timber, open daylight around the classic car, and the narrow architecture of a Tokyo street. The journey moves from the intimacy of the workbench into the lives of different wearers. Together, these settings express the campaign’s central idea: classic clothing can belong to different generations without losing its character. The final embroidered detail brings that journey back to Thomas Breitling.

A CAMPAIGN BUILT FOR THE SOCIAL FEED

The photography and 30-second film give the campaign complementary ways to meet an audience: a single image holds a character, a look and an atmosphere, while motion connects those impressions into a story. For social viewing, tactile opening details, recognisable gestures and changes of setting give the film immediate points of interest. The narrative is carried visually, with the shirt remaining the recurring point of recognition. The result brings the breadth of a fashion campaign into a compact social format, giving Thomas Breitling a consistent presence across still and moving imagery.
